Get to know Alessandra - Our Managing Director of Pulse Management Italy!
Alessandra Giffuni is the Managing Director of Pulse Management in Italy, our team dedicated to the management and representation of influencers, content creators and international talents.
A foodie and an adrenaline-seeker, Alessandra speaks 5 languages (Italian, English, French, German and Spanish!) and has lived in 5 different countries.
Tell us a bit about your journey and your experiences leading to Pulse Management.
I am a very dynamic person and have always been passionate about Marketing. After studying Business Administration in the U.S., I decided to come to Milan to complete my studies in Marketing Management at Bocconi University.
After my studies, I worked in Trade Marketing and Product Management at Yves Saint Laurent Beauté and several roles in Marketing in the United States, ranging from inbound marketing to sales and business development within the architecture and real estate fields. I experienced the first successes of Influencer Marketing when I co-founded Global Fashion Travels - a company that offers educational travel experiences in the fashion industry. This experience allowed me to witness first-hand the amazing results of Influencer Marketing; the main source of new clients for the company. Then, as if it were fate, I decided to move back to Europe and found myself in the right place at the right time. At the time, Pulse, a company that I got to know and highly admire over the past years, was looking to hire a new Managing Director for Pulse Management in Italy. Without hesitation, I applied. Intuitively, I knew this was a perfect match and now, after a few months in the role, I can confirm that I am extremely happy to have joined Pulse and that I am exactly where I want to be.
What attracts you to this role as the Managing Director of Pulse Management Italy?
The idea of creating something new. What motivates me every day is to develop projects together with other people. Within the first few months, we achieved excellent results for our talents, for brands and for the team. This motivates me to continue to give it my all with the support of a truly amazing team and content creators.
What are the biggest challenges in the world of Influencer Marketing?
Staying ahead of the curve. Keeping up with the speed at which the industry moves. To be at the forefront, you must always be innovating. What are new platforms, new content opportunities and how to leverage performance marketing with creators. In short, never stop learning and always be proactive!
What kind of relationship is established with influencers within an agency?
This depends on the agency and its perspectives. At Pulse, we are real partners for our talents. We create a professional working relationship with them which is built upon trust and respect. It is essential for us that everyone in the team is aligned and can work together towards common goals.
Before returning to Milan, you lived in various cities around the world. What is the most important thing you have learned in each city?
I learned to appreciate the best that each place has to offer. When I lived in Miami, I didn’t try to find gothic cathedrals or renaissance art, this would have been very frustrating! In Miami, I used to run along the beach as often as possible and enjoy the laid-back lifestyle. In Milan, I enjoy having cultured conversations, eating amazing food, getting inspired by people’s fashion.
Personally, I think in every situation, place, culture, company and person, there is always something of value to offer. Therefore, it is our duty to find out what that is and leverage on it to make the most out of every opportunity. Life is about enjoying the journey while creating meaningful projects and relationships along the way. I believe you can really feel good anywhere; the important thing is to be able to adapt and really make the best of your surroundings.
What do you do in your free time?
I read, travel, do sports and meet friends. Milan is a city that offers a lot, and on weekends I try to be in nature as much as possible to have a break from the city.
What are the books that, in your opinion, every person should read?
There would be so many books! I try to read at least one non-fiction book every month. I also listen to podcasts and lately, Blinkist. I’m really into personal growth and becoming the best version of myself. Some of my favourites are The Four Agreements, How to Win Friends & Influence People, The Compound Effect, The Big Leap, You Can Heal Your Life, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind… The list goes on and on.
What advice would you give to a young woman entering the workforce?
The world is full of opportunities waiting for someone to take them. So why not let it be you? I think we can be more ambitious than we currently are. Literally, the world is ours!
